Ongoing project: Lodestar

Lodestar is a project aimed at producing a social real-time electricity meter that will help people decrease their electricity consumption. Some questions we’re investigating: What functionality is most effective in motivating us to change our behavior? When are we most receptive to change? What are the easiest ways of lowering one’s electricity consumption?

Lodestar contains a tree part digital system; an electricity meter for knowledge, a wireless gadget for notice and involvement, and a web service for analysis and social engagement. The goal is having 20 different households up and running by November 2009.
